Why Do We Dream?

We all have dreams; weather its life goals, or the made up kind that we imagine as we sleep. The brain can conjure up whole new worlds without ever having lived them. But why is this? How can something so small have no limits as to what it can see or experience?

Well, the truth is that nobody knows. Researchers still don’t entirely agree on the purpose of dreams. When you’re awake, your thoughts work in a more uniformed and logical manner. Whereas when you sleep, your brain is still active, but your thoughts or dreams often make little or no sense. This may be because the emotional centres of the brain trigger dreams, rather than the logical regions.

Though there’s no definitive proof, dreams are usually autobiographical thoughts based on your recent activities, conversations, or other issues in your life. However, there are some popular theories on the role of dreams. There are, however, some widely held beliefs and theories.

Some of the most popular theories as to why we dream are; to store memories, confront emotional dramas and also to facilitate our creativeness. However, one thing that we do know for certain is that the dreamworld opens up the mind to a whole new worlds of unearthliness.
